No matter whether you are a bow hunter a 3D competition shooter or a competition archer the single constant that applies is the need for a way of shooting accurately with consistency. Without a bow sight this is almost impossible. There are a lot of different types of bow sights available and they all have features that will appeal to archers from one or more of the categories mentioned above.
Although all of us would like to think we are able to buy any product that will best serve our needs, but unfortunately our budget is going to play a part in what we can afford to buy. This means that price is going to play an important part in deciding which sight we are going to buy.
There is an extraordinarily wide range of choices when it comes to the cost of bow sights. They range from the top of the range quality such as the Trijicon AccuPin bow sight down to the far more affordable such as the Apex Gear Nitrus bow sight. In both cases they can be considered quite good value for money, they simply provide you with a different look and feel as you take aim.
A lower priced bow sight such as the Apex Gear mentioned above is more than adequate for the average bow hunter to get good results. Choosing on a 3-pin or 5-pin fixed pin bow sight will provide you with a means of drawing an accurate bead on any target.
The higher priced sights may mean that you are buying a product that is more durable, is made from better quality materials or has a few extra features. The sighting window may be larger and the fiber optic pins may be brighter or the adjustment controls may be easier to use. Any or all of these factors may prove to be the one that helps you make your decision.
The bottom line is that choosing a bow sight, just as with choosing a compound bow, can be a very personal decision. When you have bought and installed the sight on your bow you simply have to use it constantly so that you become comfortable with it. A properly tuned bow sight that you enjoy using is going to hold the key to your shooting success.
